Here's just a small sample of some of the activities we’ve held in an effort to cultivate community and equity.
Butterfly Effect Dinner
An event held to meet and share the lives of immigrants who have recently arrived in Lynn. Your evening at Casa Mariposa begins with a traditional dinner catered by excellent cooks living in the house. The evening includes a tour of the space, a shared meal with the families, and a discussion led by residents who will share their knowledge, experience, and hopes for the future. The theme of this event varies depending on the time of year. a November event might have a theme of Mexico’s Day of the Dead. guests would be encouraged to bring pictures or artifacts of their loved ones to place on a small communal altar. A March dinner could a theme of renewal with a recently joined family sharing their vulnerable story of separation at the border and reunification at Casa Mariposa.
Ticket proceeds go toward addressing needs of the community, including home repairs, onsite classes in ESL, parent support, financial counseling and career building.
