You can make a difference.

become a sponsor

At Casa Mariposa, the rent is kept as low as possible, and residents pay the portion of their rent they can afford. Sponsorships range from a monthly commitment from $25/month to whatever they can afford. This fills the rent gap as well as supports the essential daily upkeep of our large historic house. Support from Sponsors is essential to the resiliency of our community. Please visit the Sponsorship page for more information. Something Sweet to Dream On

I wanted to share with you all something so small and yet so sweet from my run tonight. I was coming back from my run at about 10pm and going to my apartment when I saw that the dining room light was on in Casa Mariposa...I glanced inside and saw Mom M’s whole family sitting around the big dining room table laughing and eating together....then I went past the kitchen window where I saw Mom T’s 11 yr old granddaughter hugging and snuggling with her while she smiled and chatted with her husband and her daughter....it was such a normal looking scene that I almost missed how huge it is that these families get to coexist and have their grandchildren visit and gather together in separate spaces and feel safe and free to live their lives because they have space and peace of mind even inside this pandemic. I remember when Mom M. asked to move her adult sons into the home and she shared how she had missed out on their childhoods and desperately wanted to bring her family together. Now she has that dream and she often thanks me for making it possible.

But it really has been all of you who have made her dreams possible -along with her grit and bravery and strength of course!

So thanks so much to you and your kind hearts for making Casa Mariposa a safe and loving place for our families to call home!

Peace and love,

Ginger
